Kancelaria Adwokacka Gołębiewski. For twenty years, Warsaw's foremost criminal defence firm for international clients — extradition, European Arrest Warrants, and cross-border cases where the stakes are highest.
Kancelaria Adwokacka Gołębiewski has built its reputation over two decades on principled, aggressive defence of individuals caught in complex cross-border criminal proceedings. Based in Warsaw, our attorneys appear regularly before the District and Appellate Courts of Poland, as well as coordinating with foreign counsel across Europe.
We are the go-to firm for Polish nationals in Norway and Scandinavian nationals facing proceedings in Poland. Our command of both Polish criminal procedure and international extradition law gives our clients a decisive advantage when it matters most.
Adwokat · Warsaw Bar Association · Member since 2004
Piotr Gołębiewski graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw and completed his legal training at the Warsaw Bar. He has practised exclusively in criminal law for over two decades, building a reputation as one of Poland's foremost authorities on extradition, European Arrest Warrants, and cross-border criminal proceedings.
He has represented clients before every level of the Polish judicial hierarchy — from district courts to the Supreme Court — and has appeared in proceedings touching seventeen jurisdictions across Europe and beyond. His command of Polish constitutional protections for citizens facing foreign extradition requests has secured outcomes that other counsel considered unachievable. We are not in the business of losing cases we should win.
We focus exclusively on criminal law and cross-border proceedings, giving our clients the depth of expertise that generalist firms cannot match.
Robust representation at every stage of Polish criminal proceedings — from arrest and charge through trial and appeal. We defend serious crimes, white-collar offences, and cybercrime.
Learn More 02Specialised defence against extradition requests and European Arrest Warrants. We challenge warrants, argue constitutional rights, and negotiate alternatives to surrender in both Polish and foreign courts.
Learn More 03With over 100,000 Polish nationals living in Norway, we handle more cross-border Polish-Norwegian cases than any other Warsaw firm — from criminal proceedings to extradition and child welfare matters.
Learn More 04Polish courts use pre-trial detention extensively. We challenge detention orders vigorously, seeking release or alternative measures such as bail, electronic monitoring, and travel restrictions.
Request Advice 05Serving a sentence abroad as a Polish national? You may be entitled to serve the remainder in Poland. We manage the full application process under Council of Europe conventions.
Request Advice 06Cross-border asset freezing orders and confiscation proceedings require prompt action. We apply for lifting of freezing orders, challenge confiscations, and represent clients in international asset recovery.

EAW Dismissed in Full — Warsaw Regional Court
German federal authorities issued a European Arrest Warrant for a Polish national residing in Frankfurt on fraud allegations. We challenged the warrant on grounds of disproportionality and demonstrated that the conduct fell outside the mandatory 32-offence list, requiring dual criminality. The Warsaw Regional Court refused to execute the warrant.
Extradition Proceedings Blocked — Polish Constitutional Bar
Polish authorities sought the extradition of a Polish citizen who had lived and worked in Norway for eight years. We advised Norwegian counsel on the operation of Article 55(1) of the Polish Constitution — the absolute prohibition on extradition of Polish nationals to non-EU states — and successfully argued before the Norwegian courts that execution would be impermissible.
Transfer from Norway Secured in Under Five Months
A Polish national serving a four-year sentence in a Norwegian correctional institution engaged us to manage an application for transfer to Poland under the Council of Europe Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons 1983. We coordinated the joint application with the Norwegian Correctional Service. Transfer was approved and completed within five months of instruction.
Red Notice Removed — CCF Application Successful
Our client — a Polish national living in Norway — was subject to an Interpol Red Notice issued at Polish request. The notice restricted his travel, caused problems at borders, and was affecting his professional life. We filed a challenge with Interpol's Commission for the Control of INTERPOL's Files (CCF), demonstrating procedural irregularities in the underlying Polish proceedings. The Notice was removed.
International criminal proceedings leave no margin for error. The wrong counsel — or no counsel — translates directly into years of a person's life. We bring an unmatched combination of legal rigour, language capacity, and cross-jurisdictional command to every case we accept. We are selective about what we take on. When we take a case, we pursue it without compromise.
Our attorneys hold advanced degrees in Polish and European criminal law, with publications on extradition and international mutual legal assistance.
We maintain relationships with criminal defence counsel in Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and across the EU — enabling seamless multi-jurisdictional representation.
Consultations available in Polish, English, Norwegian, German, and Dutch. No language barrier stands between you and expert counsel.
Arrests and warrants don't keep office hours. We offer 24/7 emergency consultation and can appear before a court within hours of instruction.
"Every extradition case I have won was won because we moved faster, argued harder, and knew the law better than the other side. That is the standard we hold ourselves to."adw. Piotr Gołębiewski, Founding Partner

"I was arrested in Oslo under a Polish warrant after living in Norway for six years. Kancelaria Gołębiewski took my case immediately, challenged the warrant, and within four months I was home with my family. I cannot thank them enough."
"My son was detained in Warsaw and we had no idea where to turn. The firm communicated with us in Norwegian throughout the process, explained every step clearly, and secured his conditional release pending trial. Professional beyond words."
"After receiving an extradition request from Poland, several lawyers told me my situation was hopeless. Kancelaria Gołębiewski identified a procedural flaw in the request and had it dismissed entirely. Exceptional work."
